Arran Geography Field Trip 2017
An enthusiastic group of 14 geographers embarked upon the residential fieldtrip to the beautiful island of Arran in March. Thankfully, the weather was kind to us, and we were able to conduct the entire field tasks planned. The pupils worked extremely well together, both in the field and for the follow-up sessions back at the hotel.
The Kinloch Hotel provided a very comfortable base, and we would thoroughly recommend it to anyone who would like to visit the island.
Mr Northin who recently retired from QEGS was able to join us and impart his expert knowledge of the geology and geography of the area. Miss Purvis was making her first visit to Arran, and she was very impressed by the variety of landscapes that are located so close together on the island.
We are sure that everyone enjoyed the trip and found it extremely beneficial for the preparation of the A level papers to be sat in the summer.
Mr Buckingham said "this group of geographers has been a pleasure to teach; they have achieved excellent grades already at GCSE and AS and it was a privilege to work closely with a vibrant, committed group of students, both in Arran and back at school".
