Year 8 European Day
The annual event for Year 8 pupils started in the traditional way with a continental breakfast in Big School. Pupils very much enjoyed their pains au chocolat and then proceeded to the Library Annexe to listen to talks about the European Union. The Languages Faculty was delighted to welcome back Mr Dave Hopkinson who highlighted the reasons why the European Union was set up in the first place, sparking some very interesting questions from the audience. Mr Goodall then gave a fascinating presentation about Brexit, providing pupils with considerable food for thought. Pupils also took part in a European Quiz and had an introductory lesson to Russian. Pupils worked in teams in the afternoon to design a t-shirt with a European theme and write a poem. This year, the standard was particularly high and Mr Hart was very impressed with the original and colourful designs. Mrs Tattersall was equally impressed with the poems. All team events contributed towards the inter-form competition and results will be announced in assembly on 8th November.
