Sports Results for Week Beginning 5 March 2017
Here is a round up of all our sporting fixtures; some great results including a first time QEGS entry to a skiing competition!
Matches played against Westholme resulted in wins across the board - U15s won 3-0, U14s won 7-6, U13s won 6-0 and U12a won 5-4.
In the Town Cup quarter finals, results were as follows:
Year 7 -vs- Pleckgate - lost 4-3 (last kick of the game!)
Year 8 -vs- St Bedes - won 8-2
Year 10 -vs- St Bedes - won 4-2
Year 11 -vs- St Bedes - lost 2-1
Our teams took part in the Emerging Schools Year 7 Festival -vs- Westholme, Blackburn Central and St Wiflrid's. Great experience which was enjoyed by all.
The Senior Girls team beat Carr Hill 22-16, and in the Blackburn with Darwen Year 10/11 Inter Schools Gala QEGS placed 4th overall. Well done and thank you to the four girls who competed!
Bath Cup & Otter Medley Relays : The Aquatics Centre, Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in London
QEGS Senior boys and girls swimming teams attended the Bath Cup & Otter Medley National Swimming Relays for leading HMC competitor schools across Great Britain and Northern Ireland for the 20th time this year. 80 boys' teams and 67 girls' teams entered.
QEGS opted to take much younger teams this year for the experience.
Senior Boys team: Eden Forth, Joe Clarke, Nathan Smith, Jarvis Davis
Senior Girls team: Ruby Brandon, Anastasia Hartshorne-Evans, Baylie Seery, Connie Clarke
Freestyle Bath Cup Relays:
- Boys Bath Cup 4 x 100m Relay - disqualfied illegal changeover
- Girlst Bath Cup 4 x 50m Relay - disqualified illegal changeover
4 x 50m Medley 'Otter Cup' Relays
Boys finished 63 out of 80 schools. Finished 5th/9 schools in our heat
Girls finished 55 out of 67 schools. Finished 5th/8 schools in our heat
A very enjoyable day was had by all and a memorably unique experience to swim in the London 2012 Olympic pool!
In the Town Cup, Year 10 competed in the semi-final against DACA, winning 8-3, which saw them go through to face Darwen Vale in the final and winning 6-2! Year 10 Girls are Town Champions!
Year 9 also competed in the semi-final against DACA but lost 9-6 - a great effort which placed them 3rd overall.
Well done to the six QEGS skiers who competed in the North West Ski Federation Schools event on Saturday at Pendle Ski club. First time QEGS has entered a team - see their results under separate website article.
Sports Performance of the Week: This goes to the Year 10 Netball Team for their Town Championship win for the second year running. Well done girls!
