Jacob Gets a PB At Crystal Palace

Although Year 9 pupil Jacob Gibson was disappointed to miss his final football match of the season on Saturday, having just recovered from a fractured wrist and his little brother with a recently broken toe who was unable to compete, Jacob's parents took the decision to travel to Crystal Palace for him to compete in this year’s British Schools Biathlon Championships.

After achieving 1st position in the Regional Biathlon, Jacob entered this competition being ranked 75th in the country and, despite having been unable to do any training, he managed to gain a personal best in his 100m freestyle, finishing 36th!

The 1600m run was a daunting prospect and Jacob found it difficult to get motivated.  His lack of fitness showed, but he put in a gutsy performance and came 61st - a fantastic acheivement and one for which we are all extremely proud of him.

Overall in the championships he finished in 62nd place - well done Jacob, we know that you will go from strength to strength now and hope you remain injury free!
