Six Formers Swimming The Distance For Charity

On 22 February, six of our 6th form pupils began the first leg of their sponsored ‘Swim across the English Channel’ challenge in aid of fundraising efforts for this summer’s Uganda Appeal.

Completed over a series of Monday lunchtimes, each student swam 266 lengths, and this combined distance equates to a paddle over to France!

The 1st XV enjoyed a 4-3 win against Hutton Grammar School.

In the Town Cup Preliminary Rounds against Tauheedul Boys, Year 9 won 1-0 and Year 11 won 3-0 - quarter finals for all next week!

Connie Flies The QEGS Flag

Year 7 pupil Connie Clarke came 29th overall in the Lancs Cross Country championships on Saturday 4 February, competing against nearly 80 runners in total.

Connie was the 3rd Blackburn with Darwen girl to cross the line, and although the downpours of rain on Friday night meant the ground was very heavy underfoot, it was a beautiful morning and Connie did QEGS proud!

Speedy Sisters With Stamina!

Sisters Ella and Abigail Hardman took part in the Winter Warmer 2km fun run in Blackburn on Sunday; a popular event with all club runners.

Ella, who trains with Blackburn Harriers, came 25th girl and Abigail came 60th.

Some great football was played against tough opponents this week, resulting in a 1st XI loss of 1-0, 2nd XI win of 3-0, U12a lost 10-3 and U12b won 4-1.

Year 7 & 8 Girls beat Westholme 1-0.
